Things You Need to Know

Before you submit your audition, we want to answer some questions you may have in order to help you succeed on the way to the stage!   

Every submission to Share Your Voice requires TWO PEOPLE. 

  1.  Any youth between ages 12-17 who is serving their church / community  and loves to sing​
  2.  A “mentor” who will be an encourager and point of logistical accountability throughout the entire process 

No experience necessary! All who meet the above requirements are welcome to apply! Especially youths who come from socioeconomic circumstances that would make professional music opportunities especially rare or unavailable. A "Mentor" can be a parent, guardian, teacher, pastor, or family friend. They must be an adult over the age of 25, have personally known the contestant for at least 6 months, and be able to validate the quality of their character and musical ability.

The mentor will be an encourager to the contestant as well as a point of accountability for logistical matters throughout the competition. Share Your Voice will primarily communicate with the mentor who will be responsible for ensuring the contestant knows what is expected of them at all times.

IMPORTANT: If the Mentor is NOT the parent or legal guardian of the contestant, they must have written permission of the parent or legal guardian to be the Mentor of the Contestant.

Share Your Voice is not limited to only those who sing “Christian Music”. Anyone from any background is welcome to submit an audition!

Share Your Voice is sponsored by The Salvation Army, which is a Christian organization. There will be an emphasis on Christian values throughout the competition that will be reflected in publicity, operation, and performance content.

All contestants and mentors must at all times act in a way that is respectful to the Christian values that Share Your Voice is built on while participating in the competition.

STEP 1: APPLICATION FORM
You and your mentor will fill out the online application form (link at the bottom of this page).

STEP 2: RECEIVE YOUR LINK
Once Share Your Voice has received your application, you will be sent an email with TWO Dropbox links. One to a folder with instrumentals for you to use to record your audition and the other will be a "File Request" to which you will upload your videos.

STEP 3: RECORD YOUR AUDITION AND INTRO VIDEOS
You will choose one song from the instrumental folder to record yourself singing with. You will need TWO devices, one to play the song and one to record video. We know it can be daunting to record yourself singing, especially if you don’t feel like you are good enough. Take a deep breath and do the best you can! The only way to lose is if you never try! You got this!

IMPORTANT: Editing of ANY kind is not allowed on your audition video including any kind of vocal tuning, mixing, equalization, etc. We want to hear the most authentic version of your unique voice!

​You will also record a 2-3 minute introduction video WITH your mentor that answers the following questions:

  • ​Give us the 1 minute version of your story. Why do you think you are a good fit for Share Your Voice?
  • Mentor, tell us a little about yourself and your relationship to the contestant. Why do you think they are a good fit for Share Your Voice?

​​STEP 4: UPLOAD YOUR VIDEOS
Upload BOTH your audition and introduction videos to the Dropbox File Request.

​STEP 5: LET US KNOW!
Once both your audition and introduction videos have been uploaded, have your mentor email a confirmation to Share Your Voice. You will in turn receive a confirmation email that Share Your Voice has received your files and they are being reviewed by the audition team.

STEP 6: SHARE YOUR VOICE
Once all submissions have been reviewed, you will receive an email with the results of your audition. We hope to see you in the studio!
