Join Us in Worship

The Salvation Army Torrance Corps is a center for worship and service. We strive to be honest about who we are, and our goal is to simply glorify God with our lives; it is the grace of God that motivates us. We hope to point our community to Jesus. Each week we come together at our Corps and worship using a blend of contemporary music, traditional brass band, classic hymns, testimonies of encouragement, and sermons based on Biblical truth. From lifelong Christians to first-time church goers, we welcome everyone to The Salvation Army Torrance Corps.

We also offer other church programs including Sunday Small Groups and Bible study groups, Women's Ministries, Men's Fellowships, prayer ministries, music & instruction, and character building programs for children.

First Look: Babies–5 Years Old

First Look is a web-based curriculum designed for babies through 5-year-olds. Every element centers on giving preschoolers a first impression of their loving heavenly Father. Everything we teach our preschoolers is based on one of three simple, but powerful, truths. The entire curriculum is constructed to meet your preschoolers where they are cognitively, spiritually, physically, emotionally and socially. Through age appropriate activities, preschoolers are building their spiritual foundation so that by the time they graduate to kindergarten they know these three basic truths:

  • God Made Me
  • God Loves Me
  • Jesus Wants To Be My Friend Forever

252 Basics: Elementary School

What’s 252 represent? It’s not our street address or the number of questions a 2nd-grader can ask in 20 minutes. Instead, everything we teach in 252 Kids is based on one of three basic, but powerful, truths modeled by Jesus in Luke 2:52.

  • I need to make the wise choice.
  • I can trust God no matter what.
  • I should treat others the way I want to be treated.

Our curriculum is designed to provoke discovery and invite kids into a new understanding of how to grow in relationship with Jesus. 252 Basics uses curriculum from www.thinkorange.com.

XP3: Middle School

XP3 Middle School exists to help middle schoolers experience three things: wonder for who God is, discovery of who He created them to be, and passion for loving others. Everything we teach is designed to help middle schoolers begin to take ownership of their faith through these three basic truths:

  • I will love God because He will never stop loving me.
  • I will follow Jesus because He knows me better than I know myself.
  • I will live out God’s story so others can know who Jesus is.

XP3: High School

XP3 High School strives to help move students past information into experience. That’s because we believe application is crucial. The goal for every series is to make it as easy as possible for students to take what they are learning and apply it to their faith and life. XP3 High School creates an experiential activity (XP) for students to live out what they are learning with each series.

Bible Studies & Fellowship

 Bible Studies and Fellowship opportunities give a chance to dig deeper into God’s Word to gain understanding, knowledge and wisdom.  We can live more powerful lives and expect to experience the joy and peace that comes with walking close to the Lord.

MID-WEEK MINISTRY ACTIVITIES

WOMEN'S GROUP: C3 – COFFEE, CONVERSATIONS, CHRIST
SECOND TUESDAY OF THE MONTH, 6:30–7:30PM
Women are invited to join us monthly at the Torrance Corps for Bible study and fellowship.

FAMILY NIGHT: WEDNESDAYS AT TORRANCE CORPS
All kids in grades 1–12 invited! Includes family dinner, brass instruments, character building activities, sports, games, fun and more for the whole family.

  • 5:15pm: Family Dinner & Corps Cadets
  • 5:45pm: Table Games
  • 6–7pm: Adult Bible Study
  • 6:15pm: Troops (Kids)
  • 7:15pm: Jr. Band & Creative Kids
  • 8pm: Senior Band (Adults)

Scout Troops for Ages 4–17

The children’s ministry team aims to partner with parents to help their children build a solid foundation for a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ. Moonbeams: Boys & Girls Ages 4–6

Moonbeams is a national character-building program sponsored by The Salvation Army for boys and girls in grades Preschool (age 4) through Kindergarten. Moonbeams will meet friends, learn about the importance of helping others whenever possible, and will have fun learning about Jesus.

Explorers: Boys Ages 7–11

A program similar to boy scouts; this Christian based program encourages boys ages 7–11 to explore & discover the world around them, while learning different skills, and earning badges (4-6 weeks average per badge). By participating in a variety of activities including team building, sportsmanship, and memorizing Bible verses, these young boys develop personal, social, and spiritual skills, as they grow in a relationship with God.

Sunbeams: Girls Ages 7–11

This fun-filled Christian based program follows a similar format to girl scouts; helping girls develop socially, personally, and spiritually. Learning life skills, and growing in a relationship with God, all while earning badges (4-6 weeks average per badge). This program will open young girls' eyes to how they can make a difference in the world around them, through activities like arts, cooking, sports, and learning Bible verses.

Rangers & Girl Guards: Boys & Girls Ages 12–17

The goal of the Ranges and Girl Guard troop programs is to help teens develop positive social and communication habits, decision making skills and life skills, character and leadership, and a sense of personal identity through a Biblical worldview. The program fosters a sense of personal identity and character; Christian values and Biblical principles; and physical, mental, spiritual, and social development in a safe, Christ-centered environment.
