Red Kettle Season 2019

Oct 29, 2019 | by Dan Thomas, Advisory Board

The Christmas Season is nearly here…‘Tis that most wonderful time of the year …

As the year starts to wind down, it gives us a chance to pause and give thanks for the many blessings we have. We each have challenges and issues that need to be addressed, but when you step back and look around, I hope you realize how fortunate you are and how many around us could use some help.

The Thanksgiving Holiday is when we kick off our RED KETTLE season. The Salvation Army Red Kettles are an iconic symbol of Hope and Gratitude, and provide help directly to the needy in our communities. The Kettle program has been around over 100 years helping the less fortunate. 100% of the funds collected go to help the people and communities where donations are received. The Salvation Army has the programs, people, facilities and knowledge to get help directly to those in need.

Our Torrance area Red Kettle program will again have its Ribbon Cutting & Kick Off @ Sam’s Club @ 11:30a.m. on Friday, November 15th.  Please join us for this fun festive event.

Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday (the typical start to Red Kettle season) are a bit later than normal this November and so we plan to start our Bell Ringing earlier at locations where we have the store’s permission and have volunteers ready to Do The Most Good!

We are grateful to last year’s sponsors and again have many opportunities for sponsorship this year (Monetary donations & Volunteer time).

We need your help to achieve a goal of having 100% of our Red Kettles staffed by our volunteer army. We hope you can volunteer for a specific day as a family, company, service or social group. It is a wonderful experience to spread cheer and get into the holiday spirit. This year we are also ringing the bells on Sundays to allow for more volunteer participation.

If you think of a company or new site where we may place a Red Kettle stand, please let us know. Our Torrance Corps service area includes the six communities of Torrance, Harbor City, Carson, Gardena, Lomita and Palos Verdes.

Please go to www.torrancecorps.org/redkettle to indicate your interest and availability in volunteering or sponsorship. We need your help to Do The Most Good!
